Crazy Human Lab.

An independent software lab in Tokyo. We run small, strange experiments on the human condition — sleep, pressure, caffeine, habit, play — and ship the results as apps, APIs and tools.

§ 01

Working hypothesis

仮説
  1. H1

Humans are strange. We measure them anyway.

Sleep debt, air pressure, a third coffee, one drink too many. The body keeps a ledger whether you read it or not. We build the instruments that let you read it.

  2. H2

    Every product starts at N = 1.

The first subject of every experiment is the person who built it. If it doesn't survive a month of our own daily use, it doesn't ship.

  3. H3

    Small, calm, and slightly unhinged.

Quiet interfaces, no dark patterns, no engagement farming. But the ideas themselves are allowed to be a little crazy. That's the point of a lab.

§ 02

Experiment log

実験記録

Every specimen is a shipped product. Grouped by division, ordered by release. Most run on iPhone and Apple Watch; some live on the web.

§ 03

Method

手法
  1. 01

    Notice

Something about being human is annoying, opaque or unmeasured.

  2. 02

    Build

The smallest instrument that could possibly answer the question.

  3. 03

    Self-test

Wear it. Use it daily. Be the first, and worst, subject.

  4. 04

    Ship

Release quickly, price fairly, respect the data. No dark patterns.

  5. 05

    Observe

Listen, iterate, or retire it. Then back to step one.
